Arts Scene

St Ives School of Painting is a two minute walk (0.1 mile) from the holiday cottage in Porthmeor Court, with The Tate a few paces further along (0.2 miles).   Porthmeor Court is located on Porthmeor Road  the middle of  ‘Downalong’, once the old fishing quarter of St Ives and is now the centre of  a thriving arts scene.

There are studios, art and pottery schools and over 30 listed galleries in the vicinity, most within a 5 minute walk from the cottage, including Tate St Ives, Barbara Hepworth Museum and the Penwith Gallery. Porthmeor Court is in the perfect place to explore the labyrinth of ancient, narrow, cobbled streets of  St Ives on foot,  to find the myriad galleries, shops and boutiques, and be spoilt for choice by an abundance of cafes, bars and the restaurants, all virtually on the door step.
